TUESDAY AFTERNOON PARK DAY

A weekly social event for all ages. We meet Tuesdays at about 1:30 at various parks. If weather is bad, we may arrange a different location-it's always a good idea to check Tuesday morning email to see if there is a change. Please email Lisa for more info.

FRIDAY PARK DAY

An extra park day for those unable to meet on Tuesdays! We meet at various parks in San Mateo County, rain or shine. Please email Susan for more info.

LUPINE KIDS

www.lupinekids.org

A homeschooling, Waldorf inspired, parent participation group for kids born in the years '00/'01 and '95 thru '98 and their siblings. We meet weekly (Fridays) with a Waldorf trained teacher to further enrich our kids day together. In addition to crafts, we do story-telling and acting, games, music, woodworking, and much more. Please email Lisa for more info.

HARAMBE FRIENDS

Harambe Friends get together for a weekly homeschooling group of outside playtime, music, and crafts. We are primarily ages 4-6, with younger and older siblings welcome. Harambe means "pulling together" in Swahili. In Kenya where there is little funding for education, villagers set up schools for themselves and call them Harambe (it's also the Kenyan national motto). So we're pulling together to give our kids a great start on their educational journey! Please email Vida for more info.

YOUNG HOMESCHOOLERS DAY OUT

Come join us on a monthly outing. We do fun, local activities such as train rides, pumpkin patches, nature hikes, crafts and much more. Please email Vida for more info.

FIELD TRIPS AND SMALL GROUP ACTIVITIES

Individuals may create activities or trips for the benefit of the group. The individual leaders set any guidelines and limitations they feel are appropriate, or use the following as an example.

PIZZA & GAME NIGHT

Parents and children gather for pizza and board games at a local pizza parlor. Held almost monthly, usually on a Wednesday or Thursday, in the evening. Please email Deb for more info.

General Field Trip and Small Group Guidelines

Individuals may choose to conduct field trips or form clubs (e.g., Book Share). Individual leaders set the guidelines for their group. Common(sense) guidelines include:
1. The children should come prepared to learn from the activity. Spend time preparing your children for what they will see and do and what will be expected of them.
2. Participate with the children rather than just visiting with other parents.
3. Each parent is responsible for his or her own children. Please keep an eye on your children and make sure they are behaving well.
Discipline should be done gently, quietly and with respect for the child's feelings. Try to leave a positive impression of homeschoolers.
4. Children should not be required to attend activities. Their unhappiness will be a disruption for interested participants.
5. Arrive on time.
6. RSVP as soon as you know if you plan to attend. If illness or other emergency prevents you from coming, please notify the leader as soon as possible. If an advance payment was made, refunds may not be possible if you cancel.
7. Activities may be limited to certain age groups or skill levels.
8. Thank you letters, when appropriate, after a field trip are a good practice for the children and good P.R. for homeschoolers.
